Doctora, maestra y licenciada en Pedagogía por la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Es profesora del posgrado en Pedagogía. UNAM
Fue Coordinadora de la licenciatura en pedagogía de ENEP Aragón (1986-1989) y del Posgrado de Pedagogía de la UNAM (2005-2014). Así como presidenta del Consejo Mexicano de Investigación Educativa (COMIE) (2013-2015), Directora de Desarrollo Educativo y Secretaria Académica de la CUAED (2016-2019) y Coordinadora de la CUAED de la UNAM(2020).
Pertenece a diversas asociaciones: Latin American Studies Association (LASA), Association Francophone Internationale de Recherche Scientifique en Education (AFIRSE) y al Consejo Mexicano de Investigación Educativa (COMIE). Es integrante fundadora de la Red de Estudios del Curriculum Latinoamérica y la Red Curriculum México.
Sus investigaciones giran en torno al campo del curriculum y su complejidad, abordado desde diversas perspectivas teóricas y metodológicas, desde una mirada clásica hasta la incorporación de temas emergentes.
Dr. Maria Concepcion Barron Tirado holds a PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She is a professor in the Graduate Program in Pedagogy at UNAM.
She has held key academic and administrative roles, including Coordinator of the Pedagogy undergraduate program at ENP Aragon (1986-1989) and Coordinator of the Pedagogy undergraduate program at UNAM (2005-2014). She served as President of the Mexican Council for Educational Research (COMIE) (2013-2015), director of Educational Development and Academic Secretary of the Open University and Distance Education Coordination (CUADED) (2016-2019), and Coordinator of CUAED at UNAM (2020).
Dr. Barron Tirado is an active member of various organizations, including the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), the Association Francophone Internationale de Recherche Scientifique in Education (AFIRSE), and the Mexican Council for Educational Research (COMIE). She's also a founding member of the Latin American Curriculum Studies Network and the Mexico Curriculum Network.
Her research focuses on the field of curriculum and its complexity, approached through diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives. Her work spans from classical views to the incorporation of emerging topics.
